March 29, 2009 NewsletterWhat rain? I guess working nights does have its advantages. Like a ready excuse for the delay in getting this newsletter out and the results posted to our web page. Give Ed Henry a big thank you for putting on this match. He gets the duty again in April. Let's hope we don't have to lean so far around the barricade though! We had a really good turnout for a March match with some iffy weather. We had 45 shooters and 7 reshoots for a total of 52 guns. Thanks for coming and come back in April. Maybe the weather will be better.
We had five new shooters this month: Mike Kreft, Ethan Schenck, Doug Cox, Bill Nightingale and Bill Gardner. If you now see a U for your classification, then maybe your membership has lapsed for more than 60 days. USPSA has instituted a new policy. If you let your membership lapse for more than 60 days, you will lose your classification. If you want to keep your classification, please keep your membership current. Remember, if you sign up for (or renew) a USPSA membership at the match, you can shoot the match for free (that's like getting your USPSA membership for $25). For the new members, when you receive your first issue of Front Sight, use the PIN on the cover to sign up to receive an e-mail notification when results are posted to the USPSA Local and Major Match results page. Our results are always posted to the USPSA Local Match Results first. It takes a little while to massage the junk HTML pages that come out of EzWinScore. We also have Crooked Creek Conservation Club applications. Ask Bill, Ed or myself for one if you are interested in joining. We hold a pistol practice on Wednesday evening starting about 4:00 PM for members. I still have Muff Sweats for sale. 1 pair is $14 and two or more are $13 each. See Atto, Ed or Bud at registration if you would like a pair or two. Our next match will be on Sunday, April 26th at Crooked Creek in Hartsgrove. Setup will be on Saturday, April 25th starting at 1:30 PM. You can shoot one gun after setup. And we will continue the practice of running one classifier each match. Now, you don't have any reason not to be classified before that big match. Signups for Sunday start at 7:30AM. We will run two (2) squads on Sunday at 8:00 AM and 11:00 AM. Please arrive in time to register, gear-up and be ready to shoot. I will try to design the stages to keep us on schedule so that you don't have to wait for the second squad. The last squad will help with teardown. I would like to run more squads, or at least finish faster. 2009 Schedule:
